NATVISATRAVEL

Bolivia groups countries into three visa categories: Group 1 (visa-free with SIGEMIG registration), Group 2 (visa required, obtainable at embassy or on arrival), and Group 3 (special authorization needed). All travelers must complete SIGEMIG registration before entry.

Bolivia Visa Groups Overview

Bolivia’s visa policy assigns every country to one of three groups. Your group determines whether you need a visa in advance, can get one on arrival, or require special clearance. Regardless of group, all visitors must register in the SIGEMIG system before traveling. For detailed application steps, see our Bolivia visa page.

Group 1 – Visa‑Free Entry

Citizens of Group 1 countries do not need a visa for tourism or business. They must still complete SIGEMIG registration and present a valid passport with at least six months’ validity.

Group 2 – Visa Required

Travelers from Group 2 nations must obtain a visa before departure from a Bolivian embassy or consulate, or in some cases upon arrival. SIGEMIG registration is mandatory. Learn more about the application process.

Group 3 – Special Authorization

Group 3 countries require a consultation with DIGEMIG before a visa can be issued. This process involves additional documentation and approval.

SIGEMIG Registration

SIGEMIG is Bolivia’s digital immigration platform. All international travelers must register online, providing personal details, passport information, and accommodation for their entire stay. After submission, you receive a certificate to present at the border.

Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay. Have your flight itinerary and hotel bookings ready before starting the SIGEMIG application. For more tips, visit our FAQ page.
