On 31 January 2023, Tech Nation announced that it would halt operations on 31 March 2023 due to the UK Government’s decision to reassign the Digital Growth Grant of 12.09m Pound Sterling, a significant portion of Tech Nation’s funding, to Barclays Eagle Labs. This situation led to considerable doubt regarding the digital technology component of the UK Global Talent route’s future.
Although the Home Office asserted its commitment to the continuation of this route, no replacement endorsing body or endorsement procedure was revealed.
