The first step is to fill in the data related to your identity, nationality, passport, and nature of your trip. After that, you have to upload your passport bio-data page and photograph. Following this step, you are required to pay the visa processing fee (25 USD). The website states that your visa will be processed within three working days.  

You can check the status of the eVisa application by entering the registration code, your registered email, or date of birth in ’EVisa Search Menu’ on the same website. If you are an applicant for the Vietnamese eVisa you have been exhorted to carry a printout of the eVisa (once approved) to enter and exit the country. Finally, you should confirm to have read the instructions to move on to the next page.

When applying for your Vietnam eVisa, you must provide accurate personal information, beginning with your full name, as it appears on your passport. Your Full name: Your complete name, including your first, second, and last name. This information must match that in your passport.  

Date of birth: Your birth date in the DD/MM/YYYY format. Note that this date should be the same as the one on your passport information page. You can also opt for sharing only the year of birth.  

Religion: You should type in the religion that you are affiliated with.  

Current nationality: You can choose your nationality from the dropdown list.  

Gender: In this field, you must share your gender as it appears in your passport.  

Nationality by birth: You have to share if you have a different nationality at the time of your birth.  

Occupation: You need to share your occupation, your regular work, or your profession.  

Phone number: Your contact number 

Email ID: You need to share your email address. Note that this email address is the one that will be used by the authorities to communicate with you. An email address will typically have a local part that comes before the ’@’ symbol, an @ Symbol, and a domain part that follows the ’@’ symbol. This typically represents the mail server. E.g., gmail.com  

Your Passport Information  

We were required to share some information about our passports. We suggest that you should keep the following documents ready:  

Your Passport number: The unique number of your passport. A passport number is a unique identifier assigned by the issuing country’s government to each passport.  

Passport type: You need to mention whether the passport is ordinary, diplomatic, or official. In our case, it was an "ordinary" passport. 

Expiry date: The date from which your passport is deemed invalid. Remember that the passport of the applicant must have a minimum validity of six months to apply for the Vietnamese eVisa.  

Intended length of stay in Vietnam: The number of days you are planning to stay in the country. A Vietnamese eVisa is valid for 90 days.  

Intended date of entry: The date on which you are planning to enter Vietnam. You must get an eVisa or visa before landing in the country. This is not applicable if you are from visa-free foreign nations.  

Purpose of your visit: You must select the purpose of the visit from the dropdown list. Foreigners arriving in the country can remain there for a limited period. You can also engage in activities that do not constitute paid work.   

Contact details and address of the hotel: Those of you planning to get a Vietnam eVisa must book your accommodation in advance. You are required to enter the address of the hotel/resort where you are planning to stay in the online application form. You also need to mention the city/province that you will be visiting while in Vietnam.  

Inviting/ guaranteeing agency/ organization (if any): Those of you arriving in Vietnam on the invitation of an agency/organization must share the name and address of your agency/organization.  

Under 14 years old accompanying children included in passport: You should share the information about the minor children who are traveling with you. This includes the name, date of birth, and gender. You will also need to upload the child’s photograph.  

It was not applicable in our case as no minor was traveling with us. 

Entry and Exit ports: You need to select the ports of entry/exit. Note that eVisa holders can enter/exit Vietnam only through a select airport, seaports, and land crossings.  

Once you have entered the above-mentioned information, you are given the validity dates of your eVisa after processing. After that, you have to enter the captcha.  

Popup Notification  

In our case, the popup notification displayed the following information:  

• Our Registration code  
• Email  
• Date of birth  
• Passport number  
• Nationality  
• Applying date  

Note that the registration code is a must for looking up eVisa on the website.  

Preview Page  

On this page, we could review the information entered in the application form. Please note you can correct the errors by visiting the previous pages. You can click on the ’back’ button to do so.  

Payment Window  

Once you have previewed the information shared, you can move to the payment window and make payments. The processing fee for a Vietnamese eVisa is 25 USD.  

Technical Issues with the Vietnamese eVisa Website. How to Fix Them

You have to upload images in the prescribed format, and there should not be any special characters in the name.  

However, when applying for eVisa for Vietnam, we faced no such issues.

You should be careful in naming the documents to be uploaded. You need to read the instructions before uploading them. The incorrect format can create issues. We recommend clearing your cache and cookies.  

Unable to Your Upload Photos  

A few applicants say they cannot upload their photographs on the Vietnamese eVisa application form even after changing their browsers and devices. We suggest adhering to the photo size recommendation on the website. 

How to Fix It  

It is our advice that you must adhere to the instructions about the size, format, and resolution of the images to be uploaded. Remember that there should not be any special characters in your name.
